ICONIC MONDAYS....BOURGIE TABLE LAMP

Today's Iconic Monday's post is all about the Bourgie Table Lamp.

This beautiful sculptural lamp was designed in Italy by Ferruccio Laviana for Kartell. Laviana incorporated bold forms and classical references into his designs, which is very evident in the baroque silhouette of the Bourgie table lamp.

Now, technically it hasn't been around too long, (since 2003) but with it's popularity and ability to adapt it's height and it's classical yet modern styling, it is sure to become an iconic piece.  The Bourgie lamp is made from polycarbonate, which resembles crystal, and gives a nod to classical style.   A special coupling system on the lampshade allows the lamp to be assembled at three different heights (27"-31"), without any tools.

You simply lift off the shade and add or remove as many spacers as necessary to adjust the height.

The reflective shade, made with a plisse effect, creates such beautiful reflections when turned on.
It's also available in black.

As you can see it works perfectly in a bedroom, entrance

and even in an office.

  1. I saw these lamps in Bruges in 2006 and wanted to buy one so badly. But I didn't know how I'd get it home, so I didn't buy it. Stupid me! My favourite is the clear version, and I'd love to have a pair of them in the living room.
